What makes a good shotgun? Is it the power or the accuracy or the clip size? Well, it is everything and these 6 shotguns set the bar for what a shotgun should be like in a game.

1. Gnasher Shotgun (Gears of War 1 & 2)

One of the great things about Gears of War is that when you shoot someone right, they’ll blow to pieces. So, when you want to shoot that alien just right to see all those chunks of meat flying in the air, just use the Gnasher. When used up close, you’re enemies will have no chance in surviving and at times will get their heads blown right off. Probably the most dangerous up-close weapon other than the chainsaw on the Lancer, the Gnasher ranks as one of the most awesome shotguns ever in gaming.

2. Combat Shotgun (GTA: San Andreas)

Grand Theft Auto is a game about chaos and destruction. A combat shotgun is made to cause chaos and destruction. Put those two together and you get hours of pleasurable carnage. This baby (the shotgun) was so damn powerful that it only takes a few shots from it to blow up a car. Keep on pumping in a ammunition cheat and you are unstoppable. Let me just say what this shotgun can do, again. It can blow up a car with a few shots!

3. Double Barrel Shotgun (Call of Duty: World at War)

Even if Call of Duty: World at War didn’t receive the same kind of reception that CoD 4 got, everyone has to admit that the double barrel shotgun is just phenomenal. Forget the whole idea of feeling like an English Lord hunting for pheasants when carrying the shotgun, the actual shotgun is one powerful m*ther f*cker. Never in CoD multiplayer have I killed two enemies at once with one shot until I used the double barrel shotgun. The look and feel of the shotgun is also just right. Also the reloading animation is just orgasmic.
