Today Eidos released their financial results for the last six months up until December 2008, surpassingly the results are good. Revenue sales totaled 80.3 million GBP (in comparison to 63.4 GBP in 2007) for the latter half of last year. Shockingly, Eidos only lost 1 million GBP in 2008; in comparison they lost over 80 million GBP in 2007.

 

 

"The first six months of trading this year were characterised by an incredibly competitive and increasingly challenging retail environment," said Phil Rogers, CEO of Eidos. "The changes made at Eidos over the past year, coupled with the continued hard work and determination of our employees and external partners, means we are well placed one year into our three-year strategic plan to produce higher-quality, must-have games to entertain our consumer."

 

Eidos also ended up reducing their debt to a mere 3.2 million GBP attributed to their restructuring plan. The biggest news coming from the press release is Tomb Raider: Underworld sold a surprising 2.6 million units across all platforms, outselling both Tomb Raider: Legend and Anniversary.

 

Great news for Eidos, it will be interesting to see if this affects the Square Enix takeover bid announced earlier this month.
